Hello and welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a blog hop wherein writers share an excerpt from their current WIP that somehow relates to the date. To join in, simply click the blue linky up there to the right.
A driveby WIPpet post this week! I wasn’t well last week and therefore didn’t write much at all, and this week I’ve been busy and tired. I’m learning to not feel guilty when life gets in the way of writing. Sometimes something’s got to give, and writing isn’t something that other people are relying on me for (or not in the same way as they are for other commitments).
I hope you all found the new linky last week! Here’s the link again, just in case.
For my WIPpet this week, I took the 19 from 2019 and subtracted the rest of the digits of the date, to give us 12 lines. You may remember my last WIPpet ended with a circus performer surprising everyone by flying. Here’s some more of her routine.
Hovering just above the ground, she wrapped one length of cloth around her foot, and pulled herself up into it. She let go with her hands and let herself fall slightly backwards, her foot the only thing keeping her attached to the long cloth. She fell impossibly slowly. Whatever her ability was that allowed her to fly was obviously also in use here. She eased herself back into a standing position and then pulled herself higher up into the silk.
She wrapped herself in it as she went and it was obvious that her ability was not in play now. This was her own strength. She eased herself to one side, striking a pose. We all applauded. Then she whipped the silk over her shoulder. She now had all her limbs free, the silk around her torso was all the supported her. She hung like that for a moment then tilted slightly forward and began to tumble downward. My breath hitched. She stopped just before she ran out of silk and hit the floor. With a flick of her ankle, she flew free of the silks all together, coming to rest on the ground just in front of them.
Basically, Lucy can defy the laws of gravity. She’s nifty like that.
Catch you all soon!
Omg I love this 😍

What a feeling to “see” in your words, Emily. Love it. Sorry that writing has been so hard to do lately. I empathize!
