#WIPpet Wednesday – February 13, 2019

Hello and welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a blog hop wherein writers share an excerpt from their current WIP that somehow relates to the date.  To join in, simply click the blue linky up there to the right.

A bit of a drive-by post this week as I’m writing at 11:15pm and really should be in bed (I need to stop booking tickets to shows on Wednesdays).

This week has had days where I only wrote 100 words and other days where I wrote over 1000, so I guess it all averages out. I was faffing about with a boring bit of story for a while, but I have just left a note on that to finish it later, and have got back in to some meatier bits, so I’m enjoying it a bit more. I’m at around 22k and Ria’s mind magic secret has just gotten out. But most people are okay with it. Mostly.

For my WIPpet this week, I have four lines of dialogue. Anders’ (the landlord at the Kraken’s Tentacle) brother-in-law shows up drunk, screaming about Ria being a mind magician and how it’s her fault his wife (Anders’ sister) is dead. As you saw in last week’s excerpt, Anders blamed her, too, but prior to this scene, they have mostly reconciled.

“And you still keep her on here?” he snarled. “After what she did to us?”

“What did she do, Peter? Tried to give us a few more days tragedy-free. I miss Katie as much as you do -” his voice cracked but he continued – “but Ria isn’t to blame. Nobody is.”

Peter stared at Anders. Anders placed an arm around his shoulders.

“Come on,” he said. “You’re making a scene. I’ll get you home.”

Have a great week everyone! I’ll get to your blogs on the weekend. For now, I’m off to bed.
