Welcome! This month I’m writing a small story each day to try to brainstorm a future full-length novel, a sequel to my current WIP Memories and Magic, which is tentatively titled Rebels and Rebellions.
Today’s prompt is: Muscle.
One of the other rebels undid Clara’s bonds and then Eddon Syl pulled her up by her collar. She nearly collapsed right back down where she stood; her legs were so stiff from not being used for two days. She held her ground but her muscles protested. She gritted her teeth, determined not to let Syl see her discomfort. She held her head high as he sized her up.
“My sources tell me you’re the Queen of Thelidon,” Syl said finally.
“What if I am?”
“If you are, I’m surprised they let you into the country.”
Clara shrugged. “It’s a long story.”
“Where’s your magic? Aren’t you supposed to be nearly all-powerful?”
Clara shrugged again, pressing her lips together. “That’s a long story, too.”
Syl chuckled softly. “Either way, I’m sure we can make some use of you.” He looked up at the two others. Looking over her shoulder, Clara saw them standing just behind her, both to attention, their hands behind their backs.
“Take her to the laboratory.”
